5 Fun Facts about 49ers’ Adrian Colbert

Defensive back Adrian Colbert was the 11th pick the San Francisco 49ers made in the 2017 NFL Draft. That pick came in the seventh round and made him the 229th overall. The Miami Hurricane, who originally planned to go to Texas, finished the 2016 season with 22 tackles, one interception, and three passes defended.

It may have been a long three days as Colbert waited to hear his name, but once he did, he was pretty thrilled.

“It was awesome, man,” said Colbert. “I mean just getting the opportunity to come and help out this club and after going through what I’ve been through throughout my whole collegiate career. I mean, it’s just a blessing to get that call from [49ers’ general manager] John [Lynch].”

At Texas, Colbert was going to play safety but ended up switching to cornerback when he got to Miami, which is where he will start in San Francisco. He’s a versatile player, so CB suits him just fine.

“I’m comfortable with anywhere they ask me to play,” said Colbert. “Corner, safety, special teams… I’ve never really had a preference.”

On the first day of rookie minicamp, I had the chance to talk to the new Niner and get to know him a little bit better with 5 Fun Facts. Watch the above video to learn:

  • His favorite color (hint: it won’t be on his new uniform)
  • What he carries with him wherever he goes (it’s pretty funny) and its name
  • His favorite type of sushi
  • Whether or not he’s the strong-sensitive type
  • And the word he would use to describe himself (see fact two).
