This NFC Championship game is going to be an exciting showing of two of the best quarterbacks in the league. While we all know who they are and what they’re about, I thought I would remind you all just how spectacular they are with FIVE FUN FACTS:
First up, the man, the myth, the legend, Aaron Rodgers:
- After attending Pleasant Valley High School, Rodgers received ZERO offers from Division I schools and seriously considered quitting football and studying the law. Thank goodness he didn’t!
- Rodgers is best known for the being the quarterback of the Cal Bears from 2003-2004. But, before he made it to Cal, he spent one year at Butte Community College and that’s the college he claims during broadcast.
- Aaron Rodgers was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the 2005 and sat out three seasons on the sidelines, watching one of the very best Brett Favre play right before his eyes. That explains a lot.
- In 2007, after Favre announced he would return, the Packers seriously considered trading Rodgers to the Raiders. Can you imagine Rodgers in a Raiders jersey?!
- In the past two seasons, Rodgers’ three hail marys total 190 yards. I mean, IMPRESSIVE! Wonder if we will see one more this weekend?
And next up, perhaps your 2016 MVP, Matt Ryan:
- Matt Ryan’s initial pro contract made him the fourth highest paid player in the NFL, despite never having taken a pro snap.
- The last quarterback before Ryan to throw a touchdown on a their very first career past attempt was Michael Bishop for the Patriots in 2000. Where is Bishop nowadays?
- Five of the first seven touchdowns passes Matt Ryan threw in the NFL were caught by Falcons’ receiver Roddy White!
- Want to know where Matty Ice came from? In his first varsity baseball game, Ryan had two hits and zero errors and the team won. His coach started calling him Matty Ice.
- Matt Ryan is a down to earth guy. When asked what he splurges on, he claims “Popeyes.” Matt Ryan and I could get lunch sometime!
We have two VERY interesting and talented quarterbacks going up one another! Let’s see who heads to Super Bowl 51!
