Even in the midst of a 1-8 season, the San Francisco 49ers know they have a lot to be thankful for. They know that as an organization and as individuals. In that spirit and in the spirit of the upcoming holiday season, on Monday, November 14, multiple members of the red and gold were joined by their families to serve an early Thanksgiving dinner at San Jose’s Boccardo Reception Center. Foster Farms, Pepsi, and Famous Dave’s BBQ provided the nourishment, while the Niners provided the waitstaff.
Those in attendance counted Tight End Vance McDonald, Tight End Blake Bell, Safety Antoine Bethea, Offensive Lineman Trent Brown, Tight End Garrett Celek, Running Back Mike Davis, Punter Bradley Pinion, Quarterback Christian Ponder, Offensive Lineman Norman Price, Linebacker Marcus Rush and Offensive Lineman John Theus among their servers.
“This was my third year serving a hot Thanksgiving meal to those in need, and I love coming back to this event,” said McDonald. “It’s great to give back, especially around the holidays.”
Per the 49ers, “[t]he Boccardo Reception Center is Santa Clara County’s largest homeless service center and shelter. It serves homeless adults year-round, providing emergency shelter and an array of supportive services including mental health services, a medical clinic and medical respite program, case management, a computer lab, housing search assistance, job search and placement assistance.”
It’s not all about wins and losses, and this event is one of many the 49ers do to give back and help the community. Go Niners!
