If we learned anything in week one, it’s that the San Francisco 49ers are most definitely in a rebuild and there are going to be some growing pains. Be patient Faithful. It’s just going to take some time.

In the 23-3 loss to the Carolina Panthers, the 49ers also lost rookie linebacker Reuben Foster to a high ankle sprain. He shouldn’t be out too long, but it’s still a blow. Next up for the red and gold are the Seattle Seahawks…in Seattle (sigh).

San Fransisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks

In this week’s Talking Touchdowns preview, I take a look at the matchup, including:

  • The 49ers offense left a lot to be desired last Sunday, and a lot of that falls on the offensive line. Quarterback Brian Hoyer was sacked four times. That’s bad and that was mainly on the O-line. I imagine we will be seeing more Laken Tomlinson and less Zane Beadles, who on his own was responsible for a sack, QB hit, and four hurries on Hoyer. The line is going to have to figure it out and fast, going against the Seattle pass rush that now includes Sheldon Richardson. Aaron Rodgers was sacked four times the other day. Doesn’t bode well.
  • Hoyer is also going to have to play better, making sure he’s handing off in the right direction – something he did wrong three times Sunday – and not throw any interceptions. 193 yards, no TDS, and one interception is not going to cut out.

Fangirl vs Fangirl. This is probably the closest the 49ers are going to get to beating the Seahawks this week 😫🥊🏈@seahawksfgsn

  • That being said, the Seahawks have offensive line woes of their own. Russell Wilson was sacked three times against the Packers, and faced pressure on 44% of his drop backs. This is an area where the 49ers defensive front can take advantage.
  • All things considered, the Niner defense held its own on Sunday. Two Panthers scores came off 49er turnovers and the run defense was definitely improved over last season.
  • If the 49ers have any hope of winning this week, they can’t have so many missed opportunities. No Marquise Goodwin dropping a well-thrown deep ball on 3rd and 3, no not converting on three 4th down attempts, and no turnovers.

You’ll have to watch for my game prediction. Go Niners!
