The San Francisco 49ers’ epic win over the New Orleans Saints was not without some big injury losses.
Today, head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that center Weston Richburg, who was carted off the field in the second half of yesterday’s game, will miss the remainder of the season with a torn patellar tendon. Ben Garland will most likely step in for Richburg at center.
In addition, DE Dee Ford re-aggravated a hamstring strain and will miss at least three weeks, while CB Richard Sherman will be out a couple weeks with a hamstring strain as well.
CB K’Waun Williams is in the concussion protocol, while DL D.J. Jones is day-t0-day with an ankle sprain. Safety Jaqusiki Tartt is also still day-to-day with a rib injury.
The 49ers sit at 11-2 and are the NFC West and NFC leader. However, the next three weeks will determine whether they win the division and have a first-round bye. That bye is looking more and more important.
