And with their third pick of the day, the San Francisco 49ers draft safety Tarvarius Moore out of Southern Miss.
Although he was not invited to the NFL Combine, Moore impressed at his Pro Day. He ran the 40 in 4.32 seconds, he’s 6’1″ with 33-inch arms, and he’s got versatility. Welcome to Santa Clara.
“I didn’t get invited [to the NFL Combine],” said Moore. “I just made the most of my Pro Day, just had a lot of faith in my skills, that I would get seen no matter what. It definitely didn’t upset me, more of a chip on my shoulder than anything, but, you know, it’s done. It’s done now.”
Although Moore said that he prefers safety, general manager John Lynch said that Moore will start his 49ers’ career competing at cornerback.
“We talked about playing corner, so I could definitely see myself making the transition to corner or the nickel position…Wherever they need me, I’d be happy to go play,” Moore said.
Smart man.
Moore confirmed that he had a lot of contact with the 49ers after his Pro Day, and Kyle Shanahan said Moore was someone they were very interested in.
“We know we have a guy who can run really fast and doesn’t mind hitting people,” said Shanahan.
All good things both on defense and special teams and, well, in football.
