1. Trailblazer. Ashleigh made history in 2016 as the first Black woman to be selected for the U.S. Olympic water polo team, and she went on to win a gold medal! And she didn’t stop there! She secured her second gold medal at the Tokyo Games, solidifying her status as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
2. Outside of water polo, Ashleigh’s go-to hobbies include cooking, baking and reading.
3. Growing up in a Jamaican household, Ashleigh was exposed to a rich variety of music and culture, which remains a significant part of her life today. She is deeply proud of her Jamaican heritage, often celebrating and sharing her culture with teammates and fans.
4. Ashleigh enjoys traveling and has a bucket list of destinations she wants to visit, with Italy and Japan at the top. But first, Paris *wink*
5. She actually dislikes swimming! Ashleigh isn’t a fan of competitive swimming, finding it too lonely compared to the team spirit of water polo, and in high school, she even bet on herself to leave competitive swimming behind, fully embracing her passion for team sports
