5 Fun Facts about Candace Parker

1. I’m coming home! After 13 seasons with the Sparks, Candace signed with her hometown Chicago Sky this season, and is having a huge impact. Not only will Candace be playing in her SIXTH All-Star Game tonight, but the Sky have only lost THREE games she’s played in all season!
2. Making history….AGAIN! This morning it was revealed that Candace will be gracing the cover of NBA 2K22 making her the FIRST EVER woman to be the cover athlete. She grew up dreaming of being in a video game, and now she’ll be on the cover of one. 
3. Her broadcast career is THRIVING! Originally a communications major in college, Candace got practice both in front of and behind the camera to prep for basketball related interviews and wound up loving it. Now, she’s getting ready to be an analyst at the Olympics!
4. When Candace became the first player EVER to win Rookie of the Year and MVP in the same season back in 2008, she was actually pregnant with her daughter Lailaa! The two share a special bond, and together are part-owners of the Angel City Football Club. 
5. We all know that Candace is one of THE greatest Lady Vols ever, but did you know that Tennessee initially recruited her for volleyball? That’s right! Candace’s first scholarship offer from the school was actually for volleyball, the basketball offer came a bit later. 
6. A perk of playing basketball internationally is getting to try new food! One of Candace’s biggest tips is to actually taste everything, and not judge on appearance. Like Borscht, a beet-tomato based soup that just happens to be her fave Russian dish.
