5 Fun Facts About Paul Goldschmidt

1. It’s about to get WILD! With less than two weeks left in the Regular Season, Goldy and the Cards are playing their best baseball. Currently riding a 10-game winning streak (their first that long since 2001!), the team now holds a 4-game lead for the second NL Wild Card spot!
2. This season, Goldy is celebrating his 10^th year in Major League Baseball, and it’s a pretty big deal. Selected as the 246^th pick (!!!) in the 2009 MLB Draft, this six-time All-Star has now reached a milestone less than 10% of players in MLB history achieve!
3. Best in state. Last week, Paul recorded his 1,549^th career hit. Sounds impressive…but there’s more. With that hit, Paul officially became the All-Time Hits Leader for players born in the state of Delaware, literally making him the best hitter from his state!
4. Kindness never goes away. This year, Paul is the Cardinals’ nominee for the Roberto Clemente Award which recognizes outstanding community impact. A six-time nominee, Paul is being celebrated for his work with pediatric cancer patients and food insecurity!
5. Even after “making it” in the Big Leagues, Paul wanted to continue pursuing his education. In 2012 and 2013, while playing with the D-Backs, Paul spent most road trips studying and doing homework as he worked to finish his college degree online!
