- How often do you think about the Roman Empire? For Chicago Bears rookie Rome Odunze, the answer is every single day! He is named after it, after all. His father had a huge love for ancient history, which inspired the name, “Rome.” ’
- Bears icon Devin Hester is the player that Rome has always looked up to. While growing up, he modeled his game after Hester, and now he gets to follow in his footsteps in Chicago and play on the same field as his role model.
- While playing for the University of Washington, Rome had back-to-back seasons with 1,000+ receiving yards. He became just the second receiver in school history, behind Reggie Williams, to achieve this!
- Family over everything. With his Nigerian background, Rome spent summers with his grandfather on the farm, where he was taught all about hard work and dedication. To this day, his grandfather is one of his biggest supporters and motivators!
- Speaking of work ethic, during the Draft, Rome was the last prospect on the field, even after everyone else had finished their tests. He then went on to attempt the three-cone drill SIX times because he wasn’t satisfied with his time. Talk about putting in the work!
