1. We got a really big team…no really. Team USA’s Tokyo roster includes 613 Olympians! That’s the second largest Team USA to EVER compete at any Olympics. The only time the roster was larger was at the 1996 Atlanta Games when 648 athletes competed.
  2. We’re all in this together! Well…almost all anyway. This year’s Games include athletes from 46 states, Washington D.C, and Puerto Rico! Of course, California is the state with the most Olympians, sending 126 athletes to Tokyo.
  3. That moment when the winning-streak spans four decades. Team USA’s Women’s Basketball Team hasn’t lost an Olympic game since 1992! They’re currently riding a 50-game win streak in hot pursuit of a historic seventh straight Gold Medal.
  4. Speaking of GOATs, Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi are chasing history of their own as they team up on the quest for their FIFTH STRAIGHT Gold Medals! Accomplishing the feat would officially make them the first basketball players in Olympic history to win five Golds.
  5. Everybody’s surfing. For the first time ever, Surfing is an Olympic sport and guess who took home the gold? Hawaii’s very own Carissa Moore is the FIRST EVER Gold Medalist in Women’s Surfing Shortboard, cementing her place in history!

I created Fangirl Sports Network as a place for female sports fans to follow their favorite teams with content and coverage that speaks directly to females. It started with one and then eight and now 32 NFL Fangirls and 15 NBA Fangirls.
