What’s up, 12’s?! Welcome to this week’s edition of Talking Touchdowns.

Sunday’s loss was not pretty by any stretch of the imagination. Unfortunately the Seahawks lost what ended up being a close game to the Jags, 30-24. Next up is our division rival, the Los Angeles Rams, who also lost in a heartbreaker to the Eagles last weekend; however, they still remain at the top of the NFC West.

Seattle Seahawks vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

It was a particularly uncharacteristic performance for Russell Wilson who threw three interceptions on Sunday. It was the first time this season, and the fourth time in 105 career games, that Wilson threw three interceptions. After the loss Wilson went around the entire locker room encouraging his teammates to move on and focus on what’s ahead, telling each guy “we’re playing for first place next week.” We all know what happens when Russell turns on his laser focus and enters into super determination mode.

Seattle Seahawks vs. Los Angeles Rams

Blake Bortles had an impressive game against the Seahawks, mainly because Seattle’s front 7 was unable to apply any pressure whatsoever on the QB. He left the game clean and so did Marcus Mariota in week 3, which is the last time that this pass rush was unable to sack the opposing QB. The Rams O-line is shaky and Seattle took down Jared Goff twice the last time these teams faced each other, so I’ll be anticipating a major bounce back from this defensive front who has been reluctant to blitz due to major injuries in the secondary.

The Rams defense gave up 333 passing yards on Sunday and nearly 140 on the ground. Considering the Seahawks just narrowly lost to the league’s top defense in Jacksonville, you can expect the usual suspects (Tyler Lockett, Doug Baldwin & Paul Richardson) to do some work. Baldwin said after Sunday’s game “…when our backs are against the wall, we play our best. So this is another opportunity to do that, to show who we are.” Looks like “Angry Doug Baldwin” is coming out to play!

Stop me if you’ve heard this before…Mike Davis ran for 66 yards…let’s celebrate! Considering this was one of the top run defenses in the league I am thoroughly impressed. It’s looking like we will have to rely on Davis wholeheartedly for the remainder of the season as Pete Carroll announced last week that Chris Carson had suffered a bit of a set back in his rehab. (police every breath you take)

Todd Gurley has the second most scrimmage TDs this season with 13, trailing Steelers RB Le’Veon Bell by just one TD. He found the end zone twice on Sunday against an Eagles run defense that has lead the league all season. Gurley also has 10 games with 100+ scrimmage yards this season which is the most in the NFL. The Hawks held him to just 50 scrimmage yards in their last matchup; however, Gurley is on fire and will be a much bigger handful this time around.

Bobby Wagner left the game with a hamstring injury in the second half and didn’t return. This is the same hamstring injury that has held him out of practice these last few weeks, but this is the first time he was unable to complete a game. We can only hope and pray that this doesn’t sideline him any longer. Fellow linebacker KJ Wright left the game after suffering a concussion and will be evaluated later in the week. LOB now stands for Legion of Backups.

Jimmy Graham’s four game TD streak is over, the TE was targeted twice and unable to catch either pass. The Hawks will most definitely be looking to him for endzone production.

Game Prediction

Look, I already know Rams Fangirl Taylor thinks her team has got this one in the bag, but we all know that just isn’t the case. Despite all of the injuries that have plagued this team, they continue to fight and because of that I am giving the W to the Hawks. They will be at home and determined to take over the NFC West.

Go Hawks!
