- It’s time to make history. That’s the pep talk Fernando gives to HIMSELF before every game. It’s a special mindset to have, especially for a guy who just played his 100th career game this weekend. And oh yeah, did we mention he’s only 21?! #special
- Who says youth is wasted on the young?! Just last March, Fernando became the youngest player in Padres HISTORY to start on Opening Day. He was only 20 years and 85 days old…and he got two hits. Guess we should’ve seen this rise to stardom coming! #ElNiño
- The legacy is in the name. Fernando’s father, Fernando Tatis Sr., played in MLB for 11 years. In 1999, the year Fernando Jr. was born, his father made history by hitting two grand slams in one inning (!!!) as a member of the Cardinals!
- Can’t play a sport? He’s got a plan. If Fernando wasn’t a baseball-playing phenom (and didn’t play any other sporthe played growing up), he says he’d want to be a traumatologist. He likes science and the human body, and just loves helping people!
- Every day we wear pink. If you look hard enough, you’ll notice Fernando likes to add a splash of pink to his uniform. That’s because it’s his mom, Maria’s, favorite color. He uses it as way to show her that she’s always on his mind and in his heart. How can you not love this guy?!
