Education, and helping the community garner the resources needed to succeed in it, has always been a priority of  the San Francisco 49ers. These initiatives have been highlighted in the organization’s community work during the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier this week, the 49ers Foundation announced the Digital Huddle, “a hub of free education and fitness resources for teachers to use as a part of their everyday curriculum,” powered by Cisco, Dignity Health and SAP. The 49ers Foundation’s EDU and PREP programs have been producing such resources for students, teachers, coaches and parents since distance learning began at the beginning of the pandemic. To date, these resources have been used by over 200 teachers and have ultimately helped almost 92,000 students across 45 Bay Area school districts.

“It is more important than ever to do what we can to help children in our community thrive in this challenging and virtual world,” said Mark Patterson, SVP and Chief of Staff to the Chairman and CEO at Cisco, in a statement. “Cisco is proud to help power the Digital Huddle and provide critical distance learning and physical activity resources for parents, students, teachers, and coaches.”

49ers EDU’s Digital Playbook provides STEAM curriculum to students from Kindergarten to eighth-grade and has delivered over 10,500 printed playbooks to teachers whose students do not have computer access. 49ers PREP has kept students active  with activities, virtual flag football and physical education content.

“We are proud of EDU and PREP for creating fun and interactive resources for youth to use to stay active and engaged throughout the pandemic,” said Justin Prettyman, 49ers Foundation Executive Director, in a statement. “These programs have been hard at work creating content that teachers can use for several subjects that are in line with California State Education and Fitness standards.”

The 49ers Foundation has made all content available students and teachers worldwide. These resources can be accessed at 49ers.com/digitalhuddle.
