Dalvin Was Cooking

Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook dislocated his shoulder and the Vikings lost to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 12. 11 days later, Cook rushed for 205 yards and two touchdowns, as Minnesota took care of the Pittsburgh Steelers, 36-28, on Thursday Night Football.

The score should not have been that close, as the Vikings had a 29-point lead on the Steelers at one point, but Minnesota likes to keep things interesting. It came down to the last play of the game when Pittsburgh QB Ben Roethlisberger threw to tight end Pat Freiermuth. Unfortunately for the black and yellow, Vikings’ safety Harrison Smith hit Freiermuth, knocking out the ball and Minnesota recovered.

The Vikings are now 6-7 and next play the Chicago Bears, while the Steelers fell to 6-6-1 and next take on the Tennessee Titans.

RIP Demaryius Thomas

Former Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas passed away on Thursday. Thomas, who was 33, was found dead in his home in Roswell, GA. According to police, preliminary reports indicate it was a medical issue, with family believing it was a seizure.

Thomas was a special person and a special football player, and there has been an outpouring of emotional tributes from those who knew him. Before Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions, the Broncos will honor Thomas with a pre-game moment of silence and a video tribute.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Thomas’ family, friends and all who knew him.

Alvin Kamara Is Back

After a Week 13 loss to the Dallas Cowboys that dropped them to 5-7, the New Orleans Saints have some good news in Week 14. 1) Running back Alvin Kamara is back. 2) They’re playing the New York Jets.

Kamara has missed the last four weeks, while dealing with knee and hamstring injuries but practiced all week. With running backs Mark Ingram II and Ty Montgomery both on the reserve/COVID-19 list, Kamara’s return is even more crucial.

More NFL Injury News for Week 14

  • Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants, as he tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week. However, it looks as if WR Mike Williams and CB Chris Harris Jr., both of whom were close contacts, will be available.
  • CB Richard Sherman should be back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when they take on the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, as he has been activated off injured reserve. Sherman suffered a calf injury during warm-ups in Week 10.
  • Cleveland Browns CB Greg Newsome II suffered a concussion in practice on Friday and has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Randall Cobb

It looks as if Aaron Rodgers will be without one of his favorite targets for some time, as ESPN is reporting that Green Bay Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb had surgery to repair a core muscle injury. Cobb left the Packers’ Week 12 game against the Los Angeles Rams at halftime.

Cobb has 28 catches for 375 yards and five touchdowns on the season. The Packers traded for the veteran wide receiver in the offseason. Green Bay (9-3) is coming off its bye week and preparing to take on the Chicago Bears, who you may have heard, Rodgers owns.

The Packers currently hold the second spot in the NFC Playoff race. The Bears own the 14th spot. Only seven teams make it, so they’ve got a bit of climb.
