World Series

The Fall Classic is finally here, and if you had the Texas Rangers against the Arizona Diamondbacks on your bingo card to start the season, buy a lottery ticket.

It all begins Friday night deep in the heart of Texas, where the Rangers host the Diamondbacks at Globe Life Field. Fun fact: Rangers’ shortstop Corey Seager does very well in World Series games played at Globe Life Field (love you forever, Corey!).

It will be RHP Zac Gallen on the mound for Arizona and RHP Nathan Aovaldi for Texas in Game 1. All eyes will continue to be on Rangers’ slugger and ALCS MVP Adolis Garcia, who had four straight games with a homer in the championship series and a record-setting 15 RBIs. Also, he is the most fun.

Grab your peanuts and Cracker Jack and play ball!

Bengals at 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers (5-2) are coming off two tough road losses. The Cincinnati Bengals (3-3) are coming out of their bye week with a finally healthy offense. Both teams need the win. In other words, it’s going to be electric at Levi’s Stadium on Sunday.

49ers QB Brock Purdy (concussion) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game, but head coach Kyle Shanahan said that should he pass the final test Saturday, Purdy will start. LT Trent Williams is also listed as questionable, while Deebo Samuel is out.

The 49ers defense will look to get back on track by stopping Cincinnati’s already not super impressive run game and bringing pressure (and sacks) to quarterback Joe Burrow. It won’t be easy, as Burrow and friends are the healthiest they’ve been all year, so it will be a full-go for their playbook. The Bengals’ run defense gives up an average of five yards per rush, so hello Christian McCaffrey.

Get your popcorn ready. It’s going to be a good one.

Week 8 NFL Quarterbacks Update

  • Justin Fields (thumb) is out for Sunday night’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers, so it will be the 1-0 Tyson Bagent under center for the Bears.
  • Though he does not have an official injury designation for Sunday, Cardinals quarterback Kyle Murray (knee) is listed as doubtful for Arizona’s matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.
  • Titans QB Ryan Tannehill (ankle) is out for Sunday’s game against the Falcons. Tennessee head coach Mike Vrabel said both Malik Willis and Will Levis will play in Tannehill’s place.
  • Daniel Jones (neck) is out for the Giants’ Sunday game against the New York Jets. Tyrod Taylor will start under center.

Justyn Ross

The NFL has placed Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Justyn Ross on the commissioner’s exempt list. Earlier this week, Ross was arrested on charges of domestic battery and criminal damage to property of less than $1,000. Ross is not allowed to practice or play while on the exempt list.

The arrest came on Monday, and Ross pleaded not guilty to both misdemeanor charges on Tuesday.
