1. Kelsey’s basketball journey began at age 9 while watching a legendary UConn vs. Tennessee game. Inspired by the fierce competition and Diana Taurasi, she decided right then to pursue basketball. By 10, she confidently told her mom she’d play in the WNBA.
2. Plum Dog. Kelsey earned this nickname after barking at her favorite athlete, Tom Brady, who surprised her by sitting courtside at one of her Aces games.
3. Kelsey was the first overall pick in the 2017 WNBA Draft by the San Antonio Stars, making history with Markelle Fultz, as both were the first overall picks from the University of Washington in the same year.
4. Comeback kid! After an Achilles tendon injury in 2020, she made a triumphant return in 2021, earning the WNBA Sixth Player of the Year award and playing a pivotal role in the Las Vegas Aces’ back-to-back championships in 2022 and 2023.
5. Dawg Mentality. Inspired by her parents’ hard work and resilience, Kelsey channels this drive into her game, living by the motto, “If you want something, you gotta go get it.
