Talking Touchdowns: Red Hot Chiefs Looking to Go 2-0

By September 14, 2017 No Comments

Hi Chiefs Kingdom!  I am still on cloud nine as I am sure you are after that incredible win last week against the New England Patriots! The Chiefs won 42-27!

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Next up, we are hosting the Philadelphia Eagles at Arrowhead Stadium for our first home game of the season. Coach Andy Reid will be going head to head against his former assistant, Doug Pederson. Let’s see what we’re up against!

Offense

Our offense finished last week’s game with a total of 537 yards. Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith finished 28 of 35 passes for a total of 368 yards and four touchdowns. Chiefs rookie running back Kareem Hunt had an explosive first game of his NFL career! He had 246 yards of scrimmage, the most by a player in an NFL debut, while scoring three touchdowns. Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill caught a 75 yard touchdown from Alex Smith. Hill had seven catches for 133 receiving yards.

On to the Eagles’ offense. This is Carson Wentz’s second season as quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles.  In last week’s game against the Redskins, Wentz completed 26 of 39, for 307 yards which resulted in two touchdowns. Eagles Wide receiver Nelson Agholor caught the ball six times for a total of 86 yards and scored one touchdown.

Defense

Let’s talk defense. Chiefs Linebacker Justin Houston is back and better than ever! He had five tackles, two sacks and four quarterback hits. Let’s keep it going Justin! Chiefs Safety Ron Parker had 11 tackles. Love that defense! We did lose Eric Berry to an Achilles injury and we are going to feel that. I know the Chiefs will step up with his absence.

The Eagles faced a devastating blow to their defense when cornerback Ronald Darby was carted off the field with a dislocated right ankle. This is the something that the Chiefs will need to take full advantage of on the field.

There could be a little sibling rivalry tonight as Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce will be playing against his brother Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce. Which side will his parents be rooting for?

Game Prediction

The Chiefs are on fire right now and even though we lost Eric Berry, the team is going to pull together and bring home our second win of the season. Pederson will see firsthand how his former mentor, Andy Reid, wins football games here in Chiefs Kingdom!
