Kansas City Chiefs vs. Houston Texans
Hi Chiefs Kingdom!
We are 5-0 WHAT?!?! Yes, it’s mind blowing watching how incredible the Chiefs are each week. We ARE the only undefeated team in the NFL right now. We beat the Houston Texans last week 42 – 34, Coming off this win, we play the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are 3 – 2 on Sunday, October 15th at Arrowhead Stadium. Let’s break it down!
Kansas City Chiefs vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Offense
Chiefs Quarterback Alex Smith, yet AGAIN, killed it! He completed 29 of 37 passes for 324 yards and 3 touchdowns with no interceptions . He just keeps getting better! Oh did I mention he’s in the early running for MVP? His partner in crime Running Back Kareem Hunt carried the ball 29 times for 107 yards. He leads the league with 609 rushing yards. Yes, I said 609! Chiefs Tight End Travis Kelce, a.k.a so you think you can dance, Travis can dance better, caught the ball 8 times for 96 yards. Four of those were converted into third-down conversions. He left in the second half due to a concussion.
Tyreek Hill rushed an 82 yard touchdown! You just can’t keep up with him which is probably why his twitter handle is @ImFasterThanYa. Chandrick West caught the ball twice for 12 yards and scored 2 touchdowns. His end zone dance was fantastic. I’m sure Kelce will be working on his next one to complete with. Rookie Kicker, Harrison Butker in his 2nd game of the NFL completed all 5 of his field goals. He is nailing it each time! Welcome to the NFL Butker, you belong here!Chiefs wide receiver Chris Conley had 3 catches for 46 yards, but unfortunately was injured and will be out for the season due to an achilles tendon injury.
The Steelers offense is struggling right now. They lost 30 – 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Their offense turned the ball over 5 times last week and two of those ended up in the end zone. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger completed 33 of his 55 passes for 312 yards for no touchdowns and had 5 interceptions. Rookie wide receiver Antonio Brown caught 10 passes for 157 yards and had no touchdowns.
Defense
Chiefs Defensive was all over the Texans. Lineman Chris Jones had his third forced fumble of the year when he stripped the ball from Texans’ running back D’onta Foreman. Justin Houston lit it up as always with 3 tackles, 1 and a half sacks and 2 quarterback hits. Daniel Sorrenson and Frank Zombo had a combined 11 tackles and they each had a quarterback hit. ESPN ranked our defense #1 in the NFL for week 4 up from 2nd the previous week.
The Steelers defense also struggled last week. They allowed 231 yards rushing last week against the Jaguars including a 90 yard run by Jaguars running back Fournette. However, there were a few defenders who stood out. Steelers Vince Williams had eight tackles, 1 sack and two quarterback hits. Outside Linebacker T.J. Watt had six tackles and a sack. Inside Linebacker Ryan Shazier had eight tackles and an interception. The Chiefs offense will have to be protect him from this D in this upcoming game.
Game Prediction
It’s clicking on all cylinders for the Chiefs. Our offense and defense is strong and resilient. Even though we have some key players out due to injuries which now may include Chris Conley, they stick together and come to every game ready to play. Steelers, we’re coming for you and we will end with a 6-0 record. Go Chiefs!
