Colin Kaepernick had a terrible game, no doubt about it. But if you’re looking for a Kaepernick bashing story, look elsewhere. If you’re looking for a “We should have kept Alex Smith” article, this isn’t that. Let’s not forget he’s taken this team to a Super Bowl and an NFC Championship in his first two seasons. I still support him and know that he is a talented athlete and quarterback.

But tonight was bad and what concerns me is Kaepernick’s once confident swagger seems to have been missing for most of the season. I don’t know what that’s about. Maybe it’s all the sacks, maybe it’s something else entirely. Only Kaepernick knows for sure and only he can fix it. He was completely out of sync all night, throwing two inexcusable interceptions and finishing with a quarterback rating of 36.7. Adding insult to injury, both interceptions went to Richard Sherman. Part of the problem is San Francisco is snapping the ball with one or two seconds left on the play clock almost every play, and it’s almost impossible to get into a rhythm. Do we blame offensive coordinator Greg Roman for that? Do we blame Kaepernick? It’s probably a combination but whatever it is, it’s going to have to be rectified and pronto.

On the whole, the 49ers looked unprepared while the Seahawks, especially Russell Wilson, played a great game with everything going their way. Russell Wilson fumbled – SF couldn’t recover. Marshawn Lynch fumbled – SF couldn’t recover. In the second quarter, Seattle went to punt. The kicker fumbled the snap, managed to recover and get the punt off, and then Perrish Cox fumbled on the return. Sums it up right there. This was not the 49ers’ night.

But before we get completely doom and gloom over here, there are four games to go and the Niners have a chance at redemption in Seattle in a couple weeks. They’re going to need to play about a million times better to win but they can do that. Next up is the Raiders. I’m not giving up on my QB or my team. Go Niners!
