Denver Broncos vs. New York Giants

Hey Broncos Country,

Needless to say that the game against the Giants on Sunday was something to forget, but the Broncos need to forget sooner rather than later because they’ve got a divisional game up next against the Los Angeles Chargers. Can the Broncos pick themselves up and win another game against Philip Rivers and the Chargers? Let’s take a look on the match up on this week’s edition of Talking Touchdowns.

The Denver Broncos were almost unrecognizable on Sunday; giving the underdog Giants their first win of the season. The running game was nonexistent with a total of only 46 rushing yards. This leads to another problem because the Broncos haven’t been able to develop a strong passing game to turn to when the running game isn’t cutting it. Did I mention Trevor Siemian threw two interceptions, and he was sacked three times, and the Broncos had three fumbles? Luckily, only one of them resulted in a turnover. Now let’s talk about Brandon McManus or should I call him McManmiss. He has missed five FG attempts in the last five games, which in my opinion is unacceptable.

Denver Broncos vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Defensively, the Broncos were not any stronger. The Giants had a total of 148 yards rushing and 128 receiving yards. But enough about the subpar Sunday performance. Let’s look at the Chargers who narrowly escaped the Raiders with a 17-16 win. The Chargers’ defense has stepped up and the Broncos should take note. They forced two turnovers in holding the Raiders to 16 points and 274 total yards.

Now I talked about the quality QB the Chargers have in Philip Rivers during their last match up. Rivers had 192 passing yards against us. And if you recall the Broncos dominated a majority of that game, but had an ugly fourth quarter giving hope to the Chargers late in the game.

The Chargers running game ranks 31st in the NFL so on paper that means the Broncos need to be more concerned about stopping Rivers and solidifying our secondary. Not to mention, we beat the Chargers 24-21 in Week 1 and I know they will be playing this Sunday with a vengeance.

Game Prediction
