Welcome to Talking Touchdowns. WE’RE BACK!! Monday night, the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Denver Broncos 29-19 and we are now 6-2. Next up, the Chiefs head down south to play against the 4-3 Dallas Cowboys on Sunday November 5th. Let’s see what we are up against.
Kansas City Chiefs vs. Dallas Cowboys
Offense
- Chiefs’ Quarterback Alex Smith completed 14 of his 31 passes for 202 yards and one touchdown. Due to the Broncos solid defense, the Chiefs had trouble getting into the endzone and they had to settle for field goals. Rookie kicker and my new hero, Harrison Butker connected on all five of his field goals. He nails it everytime!
- Chiefs Tight End Travis Kelce caught the ball seven times for 133 yards and one touchdown. His end zone dance was a cross between the running man/roger rabbit. I may have tried it and failed, I’ll leave the dancing to Kelce.
- The Dallas Cowboys won 33-19 last week against the Washington Redskins in challenging wet and rainy conditions. Cowboys’ quarterback Dak Prescott completed 14 of his 22 passes for 143 yards. The Dallas Cowboys offensive line does an excellent job of creating holes. Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott caught the ball 33 times for 150 yards and 2 touchdowns. However, he will not play this week.
- Cowboys newly-signed kicker Mike Nugent connected on four off his five field goals including a 48 yard field goal in the rain. Cowboys wide receiver Cole Beasley exited the game with a concussion and his status is unknown for Sunday.
Defense
The Chiefs defense has made some great improvements. They forced five turnovers against the Broncos. Chiefs Linebacker Justin Houston had six tackles, two sacks and three quarterback hits. The Chiefs got off to a fast start when Cornerback Marcus Peters returned a Jamaal Charles fumble for a 45-yard touchdown. Based on total yards given up, the Cowboys have the ninth best defense in football. Their D-line, which is led by Demarcus Lawrence had a combined four sacks and eight quarterback hits last week against Redskins’ quarterback Kirk Cousins. Look out Chiefs O-line.
Game prediction
The Chiefs are back into the flow of things. With the return of some starting players, and our defense coming in strong, I have no doubt that the Chiefs will win in Dallas next week and continue to hold on to first place in our division. Go Chiefs!
