LA Chargers vs. Philadelphia Eagles

The Chargers will face the Eagles in week four for their third home game of the season. The Eagles are in first place in the NFC east at 2-1, while the Chargers are 0-3. But, don’t let this number fool you. The Chargers have held onto each game losing at only the very last quarter. They even held the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs, who have been the only team to beat the Eagles, to 17 until the last quarter.

Offense

Philip Rivers had anything other than a sharp game against KC, throwing three interceptions and being sacked twice. Rivers has a tendency to try and make big plays to get back in the game, which backfired in the match-up against Kansas City. The Chargers offense will need to find a better running game and establish a better passing game, which was out of sync in the matchup against the Chiefs. On the other hand, Hunter Henry has been a valuable asset to the offensive line. Last week, he had a great block which assisted Melvin Gordon’s touchdown.

The Eagles LeGarrette Blount’s running attack helped to kick-start the Eagles reviving ground game. He gained 67 yards on 12 carries with a touchdown in their unforeseen victory over the New York Giants. Darren Sproles left the game against the Giants with a wrist injury; however, their offensive line stepped up in his place and continued to establish the run game.

Defense

The Chargers defense has been the best looking part of this team. In the matchup against the Chiefs, we gave their offense a run for their money when we placed Ingram and Bosa on the same side. Melvin Ingram had three sacks in the game against the Chiefs and Joey Bosa had three assists and 0.5 sacks.

Eagles cornerback Ronald Darby is still dealing with an ankle injury and is not expected to play in this week’s matchup. In addition to Darby, the Eagles lost middle linebacker Jordan Hicks and tackle Fletcher Cox in last weeks game. The struggling Chargers offense will have to take advantage of the Eagles vulnerable defensive line.

Game Prediction

This is another tough opponent for the Los Angeles Chargers. Let’s hope the third home-game is the charm and the Chargers can leave for their away series with a W.
