Harbaughisms and Jim Jim Harbaugh and San Francisco 49ers

It’s Jim Harbaugh week in Santa Clara – not officially, but with the San Francisco 49ers out of playoff contention, Coach Harbaugh’s future is pretty much all anyone’s talking about. Sadly, barring some miracle reversal, Harbaugh will not be coaching the Niners next season. As we prepare for him to go to Ann Arbor or Oakland or basically anywhere he wants, I’m taking a look back at some of my favorite Harbaughisms. Ugh, I miss him and his khaki pants already.

“When you lie in Judge Judy’s courtroom, it’s over.” Apparently, after three NFC title games and a Super Bowl appearance, one mediocre season coaching the 49ers and it’s over too.

“I just feel like he’s ready to break out. I really do.  You use the old olive jar analogy.  The olives are packed in there real tight and you open up the lid and you can’t get any to come out.  You can even dump it upside down and it doesn’t come out.  But if you get that one to come out, then they just want to all come out and plop out.” He’s used this before but this one was referring to TE Vernon Davis. Unfortunately, it hasn’t happened yet – one of the many problems with this season.

A man can be destroyed, but he cannot be defeated.” This quote from Ernest Hemingway came after last year’s NFC Championship game. It totally confused Fox’s Pam Oliver, but I like its meaning. Others may try to destroy you but only you can defeat yourself – apropos to his season this year with San Francisco.

“I have a memory like an elephant…I never forget.” Yikes!

“I don’t take vacations. I don’t get sick. I don’t observe major holidays. I’m a jack hammer.” Please don’t go!!!!!

“Hearsay. Well in Judge Judy’s court, hearsay is not admissible evidence. So I think we can all agree that an unnamed source is hearsay, would we not?”

“Whose got it better than us? Nobody!” This one’s my favorite, and the one I will miss the most.
