For the Jaguars and Nick Foles, I’m Saying There’s a Chance

Over halfway through the 2019 NFL regular season, obtaining a playoff berth gets somewhat tricky for teams like the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars are coming off their bye week and the team currently sits in fourth place (4-5) in the AFC South due to the Tennessee Titans’ victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

An end to the Mania.

Let’s just say the #MenshewMania era has been the highlight of this season. With the loss of quarterback Nick Foles in his Jaguars debut versus Kansas City in week one, Gardner Minshew came rolling in like a steam truck with a mustache. Despite the so-so record, Minshew provided the Jaguars and its fans some of the most fun quarterbacking the fanbase has seen in recent years. But, the mania stops here.

Jacksonville Jaguars are big undercats.

Jacksonville opens as 3-point underdogs against Indianapolis and the Jaguars cannot afford to drop yet another divisional game, after losing to the Texans twice. Jaguars announced quarterback Nick Foles will get the start versus Indy. Although the team and its fans are excited to see Foles’ return, there are some question marks as to whether or not he can replicate his Philly magic and provide upsets. Further, Foles has been out of the game for 10-weeks. How he performs this Sunday against the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium will be his first test.

However, the Jags will get an opportunity to improve their record this week and their standing in the AFC South when they face division rivals, like the Colts. While most fans at this point consider a playoff berth a longshot, it is not impossible.

So you’re saying there’s a chance?

Yes,  if the Jaguars intend to make a playoff push, their schedule going forward increases the odds to obtain a wildcard berth. Upcoming opponents like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Los Angeles Chargers and the Atlanta Falcons are all very winnable games. However, they also have to pull off some upsets as well.

As we look ahead to Sunday, if the Jags can get a win in Indianapolis, it could be the start of something magical for Nick Foles and this team. On the other hand, it could be the beginning of what Shad Khan intimated last December. They got to win, or else.
