Well, what a SOLID WIN for the squad today over the Jacksonville Jaguars. I gave the Rams the W knowing that if they tightened up the few things I talked about in “Talking Touchdowns” they would for sure take down the Jags. Here’s a few takeaways from the game:
Let’s get started with the Rams offense. They definitely had the biggest job of the day taking on the Jaguars defense. Jared Goff didn’t measure up like he did last week yardage wise as he went 11 of 21 for 124 but the offense was able to excel elsewhere. Even with the lack of yardage, Goff was athletic today & smart with the ball handling which is all I can ask of him.
Todd Gurley, on the other hand, was able to get much more going this week. He rushed for 116 yards on 23 carries. Another offensive star today was Pharoh Cooper, he had a huge kickoff return where he ran it back 103 yards for a touchdown right out the gate to start the game. Lots of good things on offense but they can definitely look to improve on third down conversions.
Now, to the Rams defense. I explained in “Talking Touchdowns” that the Rams defense must contain Leonard Fournette. That didn’t happen entirely when Fournette took a handoff early in the game and rushed for 75 yards for his sixth rushing touchdown. After the first half, the Rams defense was able to hold the Jags to just one field goal that came as a result of unnecessary Rams penalties. I thought Aaron Donald looked like a true leader and star of the defense today.
Overall, I thought the Rams looked good today. They were up against a tough opponent, on the road and managed to pull out a good looking win. Time to refocus because the Rams travel across the pond to take on NFC Rival- The Cardinals. Get ready #Mobsquad !
