Arizona Baseball
With everyone missing sports – like really missing sports – Major League Baseball may just have a plan to get back on the field, maybe.
The plan would require all 30 teams to move to Arizona until it was safe to return to their home stadiums. Players, coaches and essential personnel would be quarantined at hotels, leaving only to go to and from stadiums. Games would take place without fans at Chase Field and spring training facilities in the surrounding areas.
Clearly, there are a lot of details and logistics to work through, but if it works, we are that much closer to the return of live sporting events. Take me out to the ballgame from my couch. I can dig it.
NBA Hall of Fame Class of 2020
The NBA Hall of Fame’s Class of 2020 was announced this week and it includes Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett. This class is the first to include three MVPs.
Earlier this week, Garnett told The Athletic, “[Kobe] had such a pivotal part in the game itself, not just influence, but creation. I’d like to think that Kob’ created inadvertently an originality about himself. Timmy is the same thing. They both are unprecedented, not only athletes, but people. I feel more than honored to go in with these two, but Kobe not being there is going to be super emotional for everybody…”
The Hall of Fame ceremony will take place in Springfield, Massachusetts on August 29, 2020.
Lights Out on the XFL
And just like that, it’s over for the XFL. As ESPN reported today, the upstart professional football league suspended operations and laid off the vast majority of its staff this morning.
Due to COVID-19, the league’s inaugural season came to a halt last month after only five games. The original plan was to return in 2021, but it seems that that will not be the case.
Horsing Around
You want some live basketball? You’re going to get some live basketball.
This Sunday, April 12, NBA stars, WNBA stars and former NBA players will be horsing around as they compete in a traditional game of HORSE. Players will be filmed at their respective homes and compete shot-for-shot, just as you did on the playground way back when.
Sunday’s competition will take place from 7-9 pm ET, with the semifinals and championship taking place on April 16.
Trademarking Tom in Tampa
In some lighthearted and fun news, Tampa QB (that’s going to take some getting used to) Tom Brady and his reps are looking to trademark all the things for Brady merch.
On the list thus far are: TBxTB, Tompa Bay and Tampa Brady.
I never understood why Drew wasn’t making Drew Orleans shirts…🤔 https://t.co/Hncywcielw

I’m not going to lie to you, I appreciate all of this. I also appreciate Brady’s tweet this morning and now that he mentions it, I don’t understand it either.
