Tom Brady

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said on Thursday that quarterback Tom Brady will be taking time away from the team to handle a personal matter. Brady will return after the Bucs August 20 preseason game against the Tennessee Titans.

Per Bowles, the time away was discussed before the start of training camp. Brady had previously been excused from practice August 3 and August 5. Bowles said he is confident that Brady will start Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Kirk Cousins

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins has tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, Cousins will isolate for five days and not travel with the team to Las Vegas for Sunday’s preseason game. Cousins was initially sent home from camp on Thursday. Head coach Kevin O’Connell said that his QB’s symptoms are very mild.

If all goes according to plan, Cousins would be able to join back up with the team on Tuesday. The Vikings host the San Francisco 49ers for two days of joint practices next week ahead of their August 20 preseason match-up.

Seattle Mariners

Breathe easy, Mariners fans, Julio Rodríguez is back.

After being hit on the wrist by a pitch on July 30, the rookie All-Star was activated off the 10-day injured list Thursday. Catcher Curt Casali is also back and will join his new team for the first time since he was traded from the San Francisco Giants. Casali was on a rehab assignment while recovering from an oblique injury.

The Mariners begin a nine-game road trip Friday and first up are the Texas Rangers.
