NCAA Tournament Gender Inequality

March Madness is underway with Round 1 of the Men’s NCAA Tournament starting today and Round 1 of Women’s NCAA Tournament starting on Sunday. The women are playing in San Antonio and the men in Indianapolis. It is college basketball’s biggest stage, but the two tournaments are not being treated equally.

Oregon forward Sedona Price posted a video to TikTok showing the women’s weight room, which is a rack of free weights, while the men’s weight room has a plethora of equipment to suit all their needs. Price said, “If you’re not upset about this problem, then you are a part of it.” PREACH.

The NCAA now says that it’s working to upgrade the women’s facilities, but this should never have been an issue in the first place. Frankly, it’s inexcusable.

Bill Belichick Doesn’t Like Losing

In addition to losing the break-up with Tom Brady, Bill Belichick also lost a lot more games than he’s used to and he didn’t like it. Nothing that a Subway sandwich and NFL Free Agency can’t fix.

Belichick and the New England Patriots came to play, signing WR Nelson Agholor, WR Kendrick Bourne, TE Hunter Henry, LB Raekwon McMillan, DL Montravius Adams, LB Kyle Van Noy, C Ted Karras, DL Henry Anderson, LB Matt Judon, DB Jalen Mills, DT Dalon Godchaux, TE Jonnu Smith and OT Trent Brown.

The Patriots are bringing QB Cam Newton back on a one-year deal, so the moves to solidify tight end, bolster the offensive line and add depth at wide receiver should be a recipe for success, whether it’s Newton or someone else at QB1. After a brief hiatus, the Patriots just may be contenders again.

Quarterback Shuffle

This week, the trade that brings Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams and sends Jared Goff to the Detroit Lions became official, so that was exciting. The Chicago Bears had a somewhat less exciting week at quarterback, but honestly that’s kind of their brand at this point.

Bears fans were hoping for Russell Wilson, but instead they got…Andy Dalton 😬. Not ideal. Dan Patrick reported this week that the Bears offered the Seahawks three first-round draft picks, a third-round pick and two starters and were told, no dice. That being said, Adam Schefter is saying a trade could still happen.

Meanwhile, the Bears’ former QB1 Mitchell Trubisky has signed with the Buffalo Bills, where he will now be QB2, because, you know, Josh Allen.

Deshaun Watson

Houston lawyer Tony Buzbee is representing multiple women who are accusing Texans’ quarterback Deshaun Watson of inappropriate conduct and sexual assault.

On Tuesday, after the first lawsuit was announced, Watson released the following statement via Twitter.

Seven lawsuits have been filed thus far, and Buzbee said there will be an additional five filed. The NFL said Thursday that “the matter is under review.”

Watson’s agent said the following on Twitter this morning: “Sexual assault is real. Victims should be heard, offenders prosecuted. Individuals fabricate stories in pursuit of financial gain often. Their victims should be heard, and those offenders also prosecuted. I simply hope we keep this same energy with the truth.”

JuJu Smith-Schuster

The Steelers’ wide receiver made the announcement on Twitter on Friday morning.

Per Adam Schefter, the Baltimore Ravens wanted Smith-Schuster in purple, while the Philadelphia Eagles offered more money, but JuJu wanted to stay in Pittsburgh, so that’s where he’ll be on a one-year deal. I get it. The Nemacolin isn’t too far away (you’re welcome Bachelor fans).
