Christian McCaffrey

Though he is officially listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Bucs, expectations are that San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey will make his 2024 debut this week. The team plans to activate him off IR on Saturday.

McCaffrey, who missed most of training camp and all of the preseason with a calf injury, has been dealing with Achilles tendinitis the last several months.

With the 49ers coming off a bye week and McCaffrey’s conditioning being ramped up weekbyweek, the running back/pass catcher/every so often QB, was a limited participant in this week’s practices, and 49ers’ head coach Kyle Shanahan said he expects McCaffrey to play.

Welcome back, CMC.

Thursday Night Football Stars

It’s a shame that one team has to win, and one has to lose, as both the Bengals and Ravens played their hearts out on Thursday night. Some of the highlights:

Bengals’ WR Ja’Marr Chase had 11 receptions for three touchdowns and 264 receiving yards. Congrats to all his fantasy football owners.
Bengals’ QB Joe Burrow was 34-of-56 for 428 yards and four touchdowns. If you’re wondering how on earth Cincinnati lost this game, a game in which they led by 14 at one point, it was a failed two-point conversion with 0:38 seconds left.
They also lost because Ravens’ QB Lamar Jackson is one-of-one, and, literally, had a perfect fourth quarter. He threw for 197 yards and three touchdowns in the fourth, posting a perfect 158.3 passer rating.

Week 10 NFL Injury Updates

49ers’ WR Deebo Samuel (rib/oblique) is questionable for Sunday.
Texans’ wide receivers Nico Collins (hamstring) and Tank Dell (back) are listed as questionable for Sunday night against the Lions.
Bills’ wide receiver Keon Coleman (wrist) is out for Sunday’s game against the Colts.
The Commanders will be without RB Brian Robinson (hamstring) on Sunday.
It looks like it will be Mac Jones as QB1 for the Jaguars on Sunday, as Trevor Lawrence is dealing with a shoulder injury.
The Titans will have QB Will Levis (shoulder) back under center on Sunday.
Cowboys’ QB Dak Prescott is going on IR

October Sports

October is the best month for sports fans. MLB playoffs, the NFL, college football, the WNBA finals, the start of the NBA season, the start of the NHL season, etc., etc. As such, it appears that it’s a pretty good month for sportsbooks.

New York sportsbooks took in more than $2.3 billion (yes billion) in October. Have a great weekend, New Yorkers (and all of Fangirl Nation)!
