National League Championship Series

The Los Angeles Dodgers are one win away from going to the World Series (OMG!), as they won Game 4 at Citi Field in New York Thursday Night to take a 3-1 series lead on the Mets. Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts were a combined 5-for-9 with three walks, five RBIs, seven runs and two home runs.

Game 5 is on Friday at 5:08 pm ET/2:08 pm PT from Citi Field and will be broadcast on FS1. It will be RHP Jack Flaherty on the mound for LA and LHP David Peterson on the mound for New York. In Jack we trust. Let’s go!

Scheduling note: The World Series is set to begin on October 25 but should both the NLCS and the ALCS go only five games, it will start October 22.

American League Championship Series

We got a series in the ALCS.

Just as the New York Yankees were about to take a 3-0 series lead on Cleveland, the Guardians had other plans – a home run to tie it in the 9th and a walkoff home run to win it, 7-5, in the 10th. Playoff baseball is just the best.

Game 4 takes place on Saturday from Progressive Field at 8:08 pm ET/5:08 pm PT and will be broadcast on TBS/TruTV/Max. RHP Luis Gill will be on the mound for the Yankees and RHP Gavin Williams will start for the Guardians. Gentlemen, play ball!

Pittsburgh Steelers

Steelers’ quarterback Justin Fields has led Pittsburgh to a 4-2 start, but you may recall there’s another QB on the roster. Russell Wilson (calf) has practiced fully the last two weeks and looks to be taking over as QB1 for Sunday night’s game against the New York Jets and their new receiver, Davante Adams.

Steelers’ wide receiver George Pickens told reporters that he and Wilson have been working overtime this week to build chemistry, because “this is his first start.” Meanwhile, head coach Mike Tomlin isn’t saying one way or another.

I guess we really are waiting all week for Sunday night.

Week 7 NFL Injury Updates

  • Jets’ WR Davante Adams, who missed his last three games as a Raider with a hamstring injury, is good to go for Sunday night against the Steelers. That New York water must have healing powers!
  • Giants’ WR Mailk Nabers (concussion) is expected to return to the field on Sunday to face the Eagles.
  • Colts’ QB Anthony Richardson (oblique) will be back in action on Sunday against the Dolphins.
  • After suffering a scary knee injury in September 2023, Browns’ RB Nick Chubb is listed as questionable, but head coach Kevin Stefanski expects that Chubb will make his 2024 debut on Sunday.
