- Alex has earned some pretty epic nicknames over the years. She was first called “Mighty Mouse” as a kid because she was so fast her chest puffed out when she ran. Later, she was dubbed “Baby Horse” for her speed and power after scoring her first four international goals!
- Alex’s parents were her first coaches, sparking her love for soccer. Her dad Mike hasn’t missed a single game since she was 14, traveling the world to cheer her on. Team USA could always count on seeing him in the stands!
- At just seven years old, Alex wrote a special note on her mother’s notepad that read, “Hi Mommy! My name is Alex and I’m going to be a professional athlete for soccer!” Now, her daughter Charlie says she wants to be just like mom and play soccer too. The soccer legacy continues!
- Growing up, Alex considered herself a “tomboy,” and was all about competition and keeping up with the boys. Whether it was tetherball or soccer, she was determined to win, and that fire clearly never faded!
- Alex stirred up some buzz with her infamous “tea celebration” after scoring against England in the 2019 World Cup. While some thought she was mocking British culture, Alex said it was supposed to represent “and that’s the tea,” aka telling a story.
