1. One season of school ball. Jeff did not play high school baseball until his senior year. He mainly focused on golf, which was also played in the spring, but switched his focus to baseball after a disappointing outing in the 2009 U.S. Junior Amateur Golf Championship.
  2. Furry friends. Jeff and his wife Tatiana adopted their dog Willow after the Mets hosted North Shore Animal League before a game in 2019. The McNeil’s also adopted a cat named Mac shortly after and created an Instagram for their fur babies that boasts over 16k followers.
  3. “Wedding Crashers” celebration. This season, Jeff celebrates his home runs with a shoulder dance. He said the celebration was inspired by Will Ferrell’s character Chazz in “Wedding Crashers.”
  4. Flying Squirrel. That is the nickname one of Jeff’s college teammates gave him after he made some diving catches in the outfield. Jeff hoped the nickname would stay in college, but his rookie roommate found out about it and it continues to stick.
  5. Mr. Consistent. Jeff has a .319 batting average this season which is ranked 4th in the MLB. He has posted a .300 batting average in all but one of his five seasons in the majors.
