1. In case you hadn’t heard *wink*, the Michigan Wolverines are National Champs! And they couldn’t have done it without QB JJ McCarthy, the maestro behind team 144’s historic win on Monday night!
  2. Not just a QB! Before he was throwing passes and taking names on the football field, JJ was lacing up his skates! Starting hockey at age five, his first love was the ice rink. His mom, a former competitive figure skater, passed down her skills and love for the ice.
  3. Pre-game rituals are a thing, and JJ is no exception. Since high school, he’s embraced pregame meditation to boost mental health and combat depression, a practice he continues under the goal post before every matchup.
  4. Family comes first for JJ, a devoted family man with two sisters. A testament to their support? His family once embarked on a 26-hour road trip just to catch him in action at the Fiesta Bowl after all flights were canceled!
  5. And who could forget JJ’s smiley face tradition? Originating from a heartwarming encounter with a little fan during his sophomore year, JJ now draws a smiley face on his left hand before every game – a superstition and a sweet reminder to smile more and have fun.

I created Fangirl Sports Network as a place for female sports fans to follow their favorite teams with content and coverage that speaks directly to females. It started with one and then eight and now 32 NFL Fangirls and 15 NBA Fangirls.
