The Rams offense has been shining bright in these opening weeks of the season. One of the major contributors to the offense is wideout Sammy Watkins. I think now would be a great time to learn a little more about the standout receiver. Here are 5 Fun Facts About Sammy Watkins.
1) Sammy Watkins went to South Fort Meyers High School where he not only broke school records but had the all-time records for a wide receiver in Lee County. He had 133 catches, 2997 yards and 36 touchdowns. Talk about putting up numbers.
2) Sammy Watkins attended Clemson University and made quite the splash as a freshmen. He recorded more than 1200 yards and 12 touchdowns on his way to ACC Rookie of the Year.
3) In his final collegiate game, he helped lead the tigers to victory with 16 passes for 227 and two touchdowns, earning himself MVP of the Orange Bowl.
4) Football talent runs in his family. His older brother Jaylen Watkins played defensive back for the University of Florida and was drafted by the Eagles in 2014.
5) And lastly, Sammy Watkins is one of the athletes that believes the world is in fact flat.
Well now we know a little more about the newly acquired receiver Sammy Watkins. For a man with quite the record book, I can only hope that he racks up more incredible numbers with the Rams this year.
