Broncos Faithful, the Denver Broncos are now 3-6, and even though I’m starting to forget what a touchdown looks like, it’s time for this week’s edition of Talking Touchdowns.
The Denver Broncos are blessed to have another home game in Week 11 as they take on the 3-6 Cincinnati Bengals. Let’s take a look at the matchup:
Denver Broncos vs. Cincinnati Bengals
The Broncos saw glimmers of hope against the dominant New England Patriots on Sunday but the end result was no different than the last four games.
Special Teams is an issue and there’s no ignoring it. Sunday’s game saw the following: Isaiah McKenzie’s muffed punt, (his fifth fumble of the year); the Patriots’ Dion Lewis returned a kickoff for a 103-yard touchdown after Brandon McManus failed to get in front of him; a blocked Riley Dixon punt; and, last but not least, a flag on the Broncos for having 12 men on the field flag. In total, Denver’s special teams unit allowed 28 points. That is really bad.
We can’t blame Brock for this one. Osweiler made his second start of the season against the Patriots. He may not be stellar, but he does have more experience than Trevor Siemian, and it shows. Although he’s thrown two interceptions, the bulk of the issues have shifted from the QB position.
A shining star of this game was Emmanuel Sanders and boy did he have a game. He eclipsed 6,000 career receiving yards, becoming the 22nd active player to accomplish the feat. He had six receptions and 137 yards against the Patriots.
Let’s look at this week’s opponent. It seems the Broncos may be meeting their equal. The Cincinnati Bengals are struggling in their own ways and have lost their last two games as well, sitting at third in the AFC North.
This Bengals team is very young and rather inexperienced. They even been given the nickname the Baby Bengals. Cincinnati is currently averaging 325 yards allowed per game.
Quarterback Andy Dalton has done about as good of a job as the Semian/Osweiler QB combo, for the Bengals. He has 1,739 passing yards, and 11 touchdowns but, wait for it…..eight interceptions. If AJ Green plays to the potential he is capable of, he poses a huge threat to the Broncos secondary.
Game Prediction
It’s time for my game prediction and I know this may come as a surprise to you, but I’m giving the Broncos a win this week!
My game prediction is Broncos 21- Bengals 7.
