Carolina Panthers
It’s been a bit of a rough start to Carolina Panthers’ quarterback Bryce Young’s career, and now the rookie has an injury to deal with too. Panthers coach Frank Reich said that Young will miss one to two weeks with an ankle sprain. The injury happened during Monday night’s loss to the New Orleans Saints.
Veteran QB Andy Dalton will start in Young’s place, but the Panthers maintain it is still Young’s job as soon as he’s healthy.
The 0-2 Panthers head to Seattle to take on the 1-1 Seahawks on Sunday at 4:05 pm ET/1:05 pm PT. The game will be broadcast on CBS.
Indianapolis Colts
When the Indianapolis Colts (1-1) take on the Ravens in Baltimore on Sunday, they will do so without rookie QB1, Anthony Richardson. Richardson suffered a concussion in Week 2. He self-reported symptoms during the second quarter of Sunday’s win over the Houston Texans.
It will be Gardner Minshew under center, with Sam Ehlinger as his backup. Remember Minshew Mania? That was a thing, and it was fun. Anyway.
The game takes place at 1 pm ET/10 am PT and will be broadcast on CBS.
San Francisco 49ers
It’s been a busy 24 hours for the San Francisco 49ers. First, they beat the New York Giants, 30-12, on Thursday Night Football and improve to 3-0. Then, on Friday, they announced multiyear contract extensions for general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Shanahan and Lynch came to the 49ers in 2017, both signing six-year contracts at the time. Before Friday’s announcement, Lynch was signed through 2024 and Shanahan through 2025.
Over the past four seasons, the 49ers have gone to one Super Bowl, three NFC Championship games and have won six playoff games.
Soldier Field Theft
Things are not going great for the 0-2 Chicago Bears. There’s the previously mentioned 0-2 start, and then, Wednesday night, about $100,000 worth of equipment was stolen from Soldier Field. The equipment taken – ride-along mowers and John Deere Gator utility vehicles – belonged to a contractor.
The Bears head to Kansas City this weekend to take on the Kansas City Chiefs, so things probably aren’t going to improve anytime soon. The game is Sunday at 4:25 pm ET/1:25 pm PT and will be on FOX.
