Sunday was ugly all together. The Broncos came into the game knowing the Giants were missing three of their top receivers and seven starters, assuming a win. Unfortunately that was not the outcome, losing shockingly 23-10.

The Underdog gets the Win

This was the first time in 12 years that the Giants beat the Broncos, and gave themselves a win making their record 1-5. Giants Head Coach Ben McAdoo gave up play calling, for the first time since 2014, offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan handled the play calling and created a massive change to lift the Giants over the Broncos. In total they rushed for 148 yards and passed for 118 yards on.

The first quarter and much of the second quarter was dominated by the New York Giants. First, putting up 3 after a 13 play 69-yard drive. Two Broncos possessions later, Brandon McManus attempted a 35-yard field goal….and missed. This was followed by a Giants touchdown in the second quarter, with a 5-yard pass to Evan Engram. (Who ended up having 82 of the Giants’ 128 receiving yards)

The Broncos showed a little bit of fight with 4 minutes to go in the second quarter, they drove down the field 70 yards and 9 plays, to make a Brandon McManus Field Goal. (Which seems few and far apart lately)
To seal the deal before the half though the Giants tacked on an extra 7, after a pick 6 thrown by Trevor Siemian.

At the half the score was 14-3.

In the third quarter the scoring slowed, with only a field goal by the Giants. There was potential for more field goals in the quarter, but the Broncos attempted a field goal was blocked with under 4 minutes in the third quarter, and the Giants attempted a 49-yard field goal but it was blocked by Adam Gotsis. Just when the Broncos thought they were catching a break, a Trevor Siemian pass to Demariyus Thomas was fumbled and recovered by the Giants.

The Broncos began to understand the matter at hand but at that point it was too late. They drove 58 yards, that finished with a 13-yard touchdown pass to Jeff Heuerman. To make the score Giants 20 – Broncos 7.

After the brief run by the Broncos, the Giants finished the job with a 40-yard field goal by Aldrick Rosas. Leaving the final score Giants 23- Broncos 10.

Injuries

The Broncos woes didn’t just stop there, they also experienced a numerous amount of injuries. Receiver Emmanuel Sanders and Isaiah McKenzie will have MRI’s on ankle injuries, and Trevor Siemian will most likely have one done on his non-throwing shoulder. Demariyus Thomas, who had an X-ray on his right leg during the third quarter, will also be evaluated.
