What’s up guys? We are getting closer and closer to the NBA Finals. Last week we took a look at the Western Conference Finals and now it’s time to take a quick look at the Eastern Conference Finals series between the Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Boston closed out a huge Game Seven against the Wizards. Led by Isaiah Thomas‘ 29 points and 12 assists, the Boston Celtics clinched a bid to the Eastern Conference Finals against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The biggest difference maker didn’t end up being any of the Celtics star players, but rather Kelly Olynyk as he scored a playoff career high 26 points, 12 of which came in a three and a half minute span in the fourth quarter to help seal the deal.
Meanwhile, LeBron and the Cavs have been resting since May 7th, while the Celtics have been fighting to stay alive in these 2017 playoffs. Could the quick turn around time between Game Seven and the Eastern Conference Finals be a determining factor in this series with the Cavs? Only time will tell, but the Cavs are rested and have arguably the best player in the league in Lebron, along with the second best player in the Eastern Conference in Kyrie Irving, so the Celtics will most definitely have their hands full in this series.
Cleveland has been incredibly efficient shooting from the field this post season, led by Lebron posting averages of 34 points, seven assists and nine rebounds per game, while shooting 56% from the field. Role players on both sides will determine the eventual outcome of this series. For the Celtics that is Al Horford, Avery Bradley and Jae Crowder. For the Cavs it’s JR Smith, Kyle Korver and Kevin Love.
In my opinion, the Celtics are taking on a big load here as they face the Cavs. I think without a doubt the Cavs will win this series. It may not necessarily be a sweep but close to it. I think we will be looking at a NBA Finals repeat of Cavs vs Warriors going to Game Seven!
