Hi, Chiefs Kingdom! Welcome to Talking Touchdowns!
Which team has sole ownership of first place for AFC West? The Kansas City Chiefs, which is right where they belong. They dominated the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday night at Arrowhead and won 30-13. The pressure is on, and the Chiefs are showing us and the rest of the world that they are all in and won’t stop pushing their way to the playoffs. It was a fierce game.
Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Chargers
Chiefs quarterback, Alex Smith, still has the magic touch and is leading us right into the playoffs! Smith completed 23 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns which gives him 101 touchdowns as a member of the Chiefs! Hunt is back and on fire! Rookie running back Kareem Hunt rushed the ball 24 times for 155 yards and two touchdowns. With 1,201 yards, Hunt became the Chiefs all-time rookie rushing leader! The Cheetah was loose on Saturday night! Wide receiver Tyreek Hill caught the ball 5 times for 88 yards, which included a 64 yard touchdown. In addition, Hill achieved over 1,000 receiving yards for the year. On to that incredible defense! The Chiefs defense forced 4 turnovers from the Chargers. Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers has had 10 interceptions this year; the Chiefs can claim 6 of those from their two games against the Chargers. Chiefs’ cornerback Marcus Peters was back after his team-imposed one-game suspension, and he showed us what he’s made of on Saturday. His aggressive play forced three turnovers. He had two interceptions and one forced fumble. I think he’s earned our forgiveness for the incident during the Jet’s game, and it’s great to have him back.
Kansas City Chiefs vs. Miami Dolphins
The 8-6 Kansas City Chiefs host the 6-8 Miami Dolphins on Sunday, December 24th at Arrowhead Stadium. With a Chiefs victory against the Dolphins next week, the Chiefs will clinch the AFC West. Last week, the Miami Dolphins lost to the Buffalo Bills, 24-16. The Miami Dolphins offense is ranked 28th and their defense is ranked 17th in the NFL. They give up on average 26 points a game. The Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler is not having one of his better offensive years. He has been intercepted 14 times which ties him for the 2nd most in the NFL. He has a quarterback rating of 80.6% which ranks him 26th in the NFL. In addition he is only throwing for 198 yards a game. He has only been sacked 20 times this season which is indication that his offensive line is above average in protecting him.
Game Prediction
This is it, Chiefs fans! We have two games left in the regular season, and I can already see and feel the playoff games in our future. Our defense needs to apply pressure on Sunday against Dolphins’ quarterback Jay Cutler who has thrown 14 interceptions and has a quarterback rating of 80.6. Our offense needs to keep moving that ball down the field. Hunt, Hill, & Kelce, how about a touchdown from each of you? I am confident that we will win on Sunday against the Dolphins. The energy that came from the sea of red at Arrowhead on Saturday night just reinforces that the Chiefs fans are the best in the NFL. Bring it on Christmas Eve, Chiefs Kingdom, and let’s help our boys win on Sunday! Go Chiefs!
