Fangirl’s Guide to NBA All-Star Weekend

By February 14, 2019 No Comments

The NBA’s best and brightest will descend upon Charlotte North Carolina for a weekend of glitz, glamour and basketball excellence. We, of course, are talking about NBA All-Star weekend! It’s team LeBron versus Team Giannis, as the two All-Star team captains LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo got to choose each of their respective rosters.

Now all there is left to do is sit back and watch the sparks fly. Hold on, maybe there are a few things to do, like grab a delicious bite or maybe sip a yummy craft cocktail. You didn’t think we’d leave our Fangirls out in the lurch did ya? Here’s our list of must haves and must do’s as you head into the Queen City aka Charlotte North Carolina.

Before we’re courtside, let’s treat ourselves to an exceptional dining experience. Barrington’s restaurant is a breathtaking restaurant and definitely the first dinner you should indulge in while you’re in Charlotte. For over 16 years, this establishment has been at the forefront of the local food movement. We highly recommend the Zaatar dusted salmon with roasted spaghetti squash, chickpea and root vegetable ragout. Bon appétit!

Let’s soak in some Southern hospitality as we lay down our bags and kick up our feet in this adorable boutique hotel. In the heart of Charlotte’s Uptown district, the Dunhill Hotel is the perfect mix of refined modern living and classic touches. Staying here is a slam dunk.

Before Sunday’s All-Star tip-off, you know we gotta get some brunch. So get your friends together and head to Tupelo Honey Cafe. This spot brings you Southern dishes made from scratch that will satisfy any palette. We could go on but you had me at brunch.

The best hour is cocktail hour and we’re heading to the Cotton Room to partake in the ever-rotating curated cocktail list. Start with a “Can’t Campar-It” not only for the hilarious pun, but also the Queen Charlotte Rum and tasty Campari that go with it. Or since you’re in North Carolina, try the “Carolina Mule” with that smooth Midnight Moon American Whiskey.

Whether Steph, Devin or Dirk walk away with the 3-Point Contest victory, guarantee yourself one by heading over to Crave for some of the best desserts in all of Charlotte. Let me just begin to list what’s in store…Churro Fondue, Red Velvet Waffles and Bailey’s Bread Pudding…just to name a few. Dessert is an MVP in our book.
