Los Angeles Rams vs. San Francisco 49ers

What’s up, Mobsquad?! How about that Week 3 victory over the 49ers?! I know Tracy wasn’t too excited but I was so relieved to get that much needed first divisional win of the season. Now the Rams head to Dallas for another NFC matchup against the Cowboys. Here’s a quick look:

Los Angeles Rams vs. Dallas Cowboys

Offense

  • First, the Rams Offense! I mean, wow! I wasn’t expecting such a high scoring game. Jared Goff definitely improved this week as he went 22 of 28 for 292 yards and three touchdowns. He looked way more comfortable leading the team and seemed to connect on more passes down the field. He connected with Sammy Watkins six times for 106 yards and two touchdowns. Both Todd Gurley and Robert Woods had multiple receptions this week from Goff, who has seemed to improve each week in McVay’s system and just might show fans why he was the number one overall pick after all.
  • Todd Gurley was on FIRE this week. He had 113 yards on 28 carries with two rushing touchdowns. In this game alone, Gurley was able to rack up three total touchdowns! With his six TDs, he now ties Marshall Faulk and Crazy Legs Hirsch for the most touchdowns through the first three games of any season in Rams’ history. It’s clear that both Jared Goff and the Rams’ offense goes as Gurley goes. If Gurley can continue his production on the ground and through the air, he will have the Dallas defense working all game and should take some of the pressure off of Goff.
  • In order for the Rams to be successful against Dallas, they will need to build on some of the offensive success they’ve had this season, while also continue improving as a team each week. The o-line will need to stay solid for both Goff and Gurley because they are facing a Dallas defense who racked up six sacks against Carson Palmer and the Cardinals on Monday Night Football. Although this new o-line group has only been together for three games, the chemistry between the unit has been solid and has allowed Goff to gain more confidence in the pocket.

Defense

  • Now for the Rams’ defense. They will be facing quite the quarterback in Dak Prescott. Dak has not only shown to be a great leader in his young career, he has also proved to be a tremendous play-maker by using his mobility in the pocket to create offense both with his arm and with his legs. Fun fact, Dak leads the NFL since the start of last year with seven rushing TDs by a quarterback, so the LA defense, especially the D-line, will need to force Dak to stay in the pocket.
  • It will be imperative for the defense to stop the run because Ezekiel Elliot and the Dallas o-line’s success in the run game has allowed Dak to make his living on the play action pass. You shut down the run, you help limit their offense.

Game Prediction

Now for my game prediction. I am going to go out on a limb here for my team and give the Rams the W. The team is looking better than ever so I am hoping they can continue on this road!
