Talking Touchdowns: Raiders Need A Miracle

Oakland Raiders vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Hi Raider Nation. I really did not want to come back this week and report about another loss but the Raiders are giving me no choice. We got our 4th straight loss of the season Sunday night against the LA Chargers.

Derek Carr, who missed last weekend’s game with a broken bone in his back, had an unimpressive afternoon: He threw for just 171 yards with two interceptions and a touchdown. Philip Rivers went 25 for 36 for 268 yards with one touchdown & Melvin Gordon ran for 83 yards and scored twice.

But it was a missed extra point by Giorgio Tavecchio — after a high snap by Jon Condo early in the fourth quarter —that put the nail in the coffin for the Raiders and the Chargers took the W by one point, 17-16.

There is no sugar coating this. We are playing like crap. We were supposed to be Super Bowl contenders and now we can’t seem to beat anybody.

And if there aren’t some major changes defensively and offensively before Thursday’s game against the Chiefs, then I truly don’t know what to tell y’all.

Oakland Raiders vs. Kansas City Chiefs

The Raiders vs. the Kansas Chiefs game is a huge division game and we are three games behind Kansas City.

By a miracle, we need to find a way to win this game to stay in the division race. The Raiders have to find a way to slow down the Chiefs’ star running back Kareem Hunt and also find a way to get their offense cranking, specifically the passing game to Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree.

The defense was better against the LA Chargers but they have to be able to keep that intensity against a hot, seasoned QB in Alex Smith. Bottom line, they have to come out hot to avoid playing from behind because that’s when the KC defense really gets firing on all cylinders–when they have the lead.

There is not much else I can say. We missed our an opportunity to gain ground in the standings with KC and Denver losing. We have to beat the Chiefs or else we are sitting 2-5 and our playoff chances are slim to none.

The Chiefs are listed as 2.5 to three-point favorites over the Raiders. I know a lot of Raiders fans out there are ready to give up but I am going to try and stay positive on this one, for all of us…because if i am not, who will be? Let’s pray for a miracle, Raider Nation.
