What’s up 12’s?! Welcome to this week’s edition of Talking Touchdowns.
It has been way too long since we’ve got to cheer on our beloved Seahawks but Monday night is almost here! Despite coming off a huge win on Thursday Night over the Cardinals, Seattle is depleted and has been bit by the injury bug bad. Alas, we’ve got a Monday Night Football showdown against the Atlanta Falcons which means it’s time to prove we’re the top birds.
Seattle Seahawks vs. Atlanta Falcons
Jimmy Graham is back y’all! Five of his six receiving touchdowns have come since the Week 6 bye. Plus he’s had two, two touchdown games. In each of those games, he tallied 39 and 27 yards respectively, which means Seattle is targeting him in the redzone. His 6’7″ Lebron James type frame makes him a hard cover for smaller corners and Russell Wilson is exploiting that!
Falcons’ RB Devonta Freeman will sit out Week 11 and possibly longer after suffering his second concussion this season. However, Atlanta still has Tevin Coleman, who had an impressive showing last Sunday, rushing for 83 yards on 20 carries and a TD. As for Seattle’s run game, we got some possibly great news from head coach Pete Carroll on Monday that Chris Carson may be back on the field in December! Can I get a Hallelujah?!
Like I said, the Seahawks are beat up right now. Richard Sherman is out for the remainder of the season with a ruptured achilles, CJ Prosise injured his other ankle, Kam Chancellor suffered a stinger, Doug Baldwin is still dealing with a groin injury that he played through on Thursday night, Frank Clark suffered a thigh injury and Duane Brown injured his ankle but has assured fans he’ll be fine come Monday night. Earl Thomas has missed 2 games due to a hamstring injury but Pete Carroll said he expects him to play. Hopefully the 10 days in between games will be enough.
Atlanta’s defensive end Adrian Clayborn broke a franchise record with six….that’s right SIX…sacks in their victory over the Cowboys. Their front seven sacked Dak Prescott a total of eight times. We are familiar with this scenario. We know our offensive line is not great. We know Russell Wilson can scramble. However, even with all of the scrambling, he was sacked five times on Thursday. If Duane Brown does in fact sit out Monday due to that ankle injury, we are in trouble.
Game Prediction
I think home field advantage is going to be a huge help this week. The Hawks have yet to lose at Century Link Field this year and I do not foresee that changing this week. I’m predicting another victory boosting our record to 7-3 and inching our way closer to another NFC West title.
Go Hawks!
