Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders are – finally – about to enjoy new ownership. It was announced on Friday that a group led by Josh Harris has reached an agreement to buy the team. Harris is currently the co-owner of the Philadelphia 76ers and the New Jersey Devils.
Per ESPN, the agreed upon price is $6.05 billion, beating the previous record of $4.65 billion for the Denver Broncos. It will need to be approved by the NFL and the next league meetings will take place in Minneapolis May 22-23.
Vegas Brady
Is Tom Brady returning to the NFL? No, not like that. ESPN is reporting that Brady is in talks to become a limited partner in the Las Vegas Raiders. Brady and Jimmy Garoppolo reunited – that’s fun.
Earlier this year, Brady bought a stake in the Las Vegas Aces, so it seems that being in business with Mark Davis has been a good thing. Should they reach an agreement on the Raiders a minimum of 24 team owners will need to vet and approve the deal.
See, what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas.
NBA Western Conference Semifinals
The Denver Nuggets are heading to the Western Conference Finals, after defeating the Phoenix Suns, 4-2, in the semis. The Nuggets won Thursday night’s Game 6, 125-100, as the sun set on Phoenix’s season. The Suns have some offseason work to do, while the Nuggets will meet the winner of the Warriors-Lakers series.
Speaking of the Warriors and the Lakers, Golden State and Los Angeles meet in Game 6 Friday night at Crypto.com Arena. The Lakers lead the series, 3-2. After being hit in the head during Wednesday night’s game, Anthony Davis is probable for the Lakers, which is a good thing for LA. Steph Curry will look to continue is epic series for Golden State, but he will need Klay Thompson to have a vintage Klay game (or two), especially since Andrew Wiggins is questionable with a rib injury. Tipoff is at 10 pm ET/7 pm PT on ESPN.
NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals
Meanwhile in the East, the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers are tied at 3, after Boston won Thursday night’s Game 6, 95-86, in Philly behind Jayson Tatum’s late surge. Game 7 moves to Boston on Sunday at TD Garden. Time TBD.
