1. Rising star. Naomi is playing her first career World Cup and started for the U.S. in their 3-0 win vs Vietnam. She and Sophia Smith have dedicated their World Cup run to their late Stanford teammate Katie Meyer.
  2. hree sport star. Naomi didn’t only play soccer growing up. She also played basketball and gymnastics until only focusing on soccer in middle school.
  3. From Adele to Megan. One of Naomi’s all-time favorite songs is “Someone Like You” by Adele, but she goes for a very different vibe warming up. Megan Thee Stallion’s song “Cash Sh**” is her go-to warm up track.
  4. Just a girl and her Kindle. Naomi enjoys to read when relaxing and calls her Kindle her most prized possession. Her most recent favorite book is “The Paris Apartment” by Lucy Foley.
  5. Ethiopian roots. Naomi’s parents are Ethiopian immigrants and she grew up speaking Amharic (Ethiopia’s official language) and English. She started playing soccer at an Ethiopian youth program her dad started in the Bay Area.
