5 Fun Facts: Patriots’ Dion Lewis and Steelers’ Le’Veon Bell

By January 20, 2017 No Comments

This week’s AFC Championship game between the New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers will feature two dynamic running backs in Dion Lewis and Le’Veon Bell. Let’s get to know more about these two game changers with 5 Fun Facts.

New England Patriots’ Dion Lewis

Let’s start with New England’s Lewis:

  1. Lewis was given the nickname “Jitterbug” from teammate Julian Edelman. It came from Wham’s “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go.” Watch Lewis evade defenders one time and you’ll get why.
  2. Lewis was drafted by the Eagles and traded to the Browns for Emmanuel Acho, who said on twitter whoever made that trade should be fired. He was kidding, I think. It actually might have been Chip Kelly. Shed a tear.
  3. He is first player to have a rushing TD, receiving TD and kickoff return for a TD in a playoff game.
  4. Prior to last week’s game, Lewis had played in seven games and had zero touchdowns.
  5. Due to injury, Lewis hadn’t played for two years when he started for the Pats Sept. 10, 2015 against the…Pittsburgh Steelers. He rushed for 138 yards that day. Full circle.

Pittsburgh Steelers’ Le’Veon Bell

Now, Mr. Bell, whose Twitter bio says he just wants to make his mom proud and allow her to live at ease. So I love him.

  1. Bell’s nickname, Juice, given to him by coach Mike Tomlin, refers to his workout regimen and never running out of battery.
  2. He works with PETA and did a shirtless ad saying he chooses Ink not Mink (he has tattoos).
  3. With his 337 yards rushing, Le’Veon Bell has set a record for most rushing yards by a player in his first two playoff games.
  4. Bell loves to rap and sometimes performs for his team after practice. He is considering signing with a record label.
  5. Bell was noticed by Michigan State, where he played in college, after his high school principal reached out to Spartans’ head coach Mark Dantonio, who had previously never heard of Bell.

There you have it! I look forward to seeing Jitterbug and Juice play on Sunday. Good luck guys!
