Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving Niner Fans! Today is game day, with the San Francisco 49ers hosting the Seattle Seahawks at 5:30 pm PST. This rivalry has become one of the best in football and with both teams at 7-4 and fighting for a playoff spot, tonight’s game should be a good one.
No player will have more impact than Outside Linebacker Aldon Smith. His off the field issues have been well documented, but this writer thinks he’s turned a corner and learned from his mistakes. 1) In 45 games played, Smith has 44 sacks. That’s actually more than fun, that’s awesome.
2) In last week’s win against the Washington Redskins, Smith dislocated his left middle finger after a hit on RGIII. He popped it back into place with his right hand on the sidelines. Ouch.
3) Smith counts former 49ers’great and Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott as a mentor.
4) He shares a September 25 birthday with Will Smith, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Michael Douglas, and Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill. May the force be with you tonight Aldon!
5) Aldon Smith said on instagram that the only quarterback he wouldn’t sack is Joe Montana.
