Super Bowl LIII will be held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia on Sunday, February 3, and football fans venturing to Atlanta are in for a treat. Nothing compares to Super Bowl Sunday — complete with the two best teams in the league going head-to-head, red-carpet worthy celebrity appearances, buzzworthy TV commercials, endless, delicious food spreads, uplifting musical extravaganzas… and did we mention Gladys Knight will be performing the National Anthem!? Our excitement level is at a fever pitch.

I know we’re all eager for kick-off. Until then, here’s the ultimate Fangirl’s game plan to sipping, cheering, toasting and brunching that you need for the most exciting game day of the year.

The culinary options are truly endless on this marvelous day. From classic chicken wings to the perfect jalapeño popper dip, honestly, the good news is you can’t go wrong. The must-have that we recommend, that frankly no party can live without, is guacamole — the dip that never disappoints. It’s no fuss and full of flavor. Add some flair to this classic with a serrano chile to turn up some heat. On the side, go for not only traditional tortilla chips but also carrots and celery to add variety.

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 Medium Avocados, halved
  • 1 Lime, juiced
  • 1/3 Minced Onion
  • 1 Tablespoon chopped Cilantro
  • 1/4 Cup of your favorite Salsa, (or diced up Tomatoes)
  • Salt
  • Fresh Pepper

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Slice avocados in half and remove the pit.
  • Scrape out the pulp from the avocados in a medium bowl and mash with a fork or a potato masher leaving some large chunks.
  • Add lime juice, salt, pepper, cilantro, salsa/tomato and onion and stir to mix thoroughly.

Now that our taste buds are taken care of, it’s time to focus on our libations. We’re calling this baby the “Super Bowl High Ball.” This cocktail classic, much like the big game, is one for the ages. So fill your glass, grab the best seat in the house and get ready for kick off.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 Ounces Whiskey
  • ½ An Ounce Dolin Genepy des Alpes
  • 2 ½ Ounces Club Soda
  • ½ An Ounce Fresh Lemon Juice

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Pour all ingredients into a tall glass full of ice.
  • Stir gently.
  • Garnish with a lemon twist. Watch Adam Levine slay onstage.

Now it’s time to discuss fashion decisions. The question we’re all asking ourselves is really the same: “How can I look cute and feel comfortable at the same time?” Luckily, here at Fangirl Nation, we’ve given this a lot of thought and here’s the solution…start with a comfy, adorable graphic tee + black jeans OR comfy, adorable graphic sweater + black jeans. Done.

If you’re lucky enough to head to Atlanta for the big game, make sure to add a puffy coat to your list of what-to-wear and then check out our list of free things to do in the city! And because we’re always thinking about our next meal, we must tell you about Staplehouse. A great bar and a creative kitchen with farm-fresh ingredients. Bring your appetite because the menu here is delish!

The day after the big game, all of us will want to nosh leisurely on waffles and maybe even nurse a little hair of the dog, depending on how much celebrating you’ve done. The place to do this is most definitely Ladybird Grove & Mess Hall. Order a biscuit and Bellini, and you’ll be as good as new and ready to start talking about the upcoming draft. Too soon? Not here at FGSN!
