Talking Touchdowns: Seahawks Hoping for Vital Victory Over the 49ers

By November 24, 2017 No Comments

What’s up 12’s?! Welcome to this week’s edition of Talking Touchdowns.

It was a Monday night heartbreak for the Seattle Seahawks as they lost at home to the Atlanta Falcons by one field goal. It stung a little bit more because Pete Carroll attempted a fake field goal before the half that, if successful, would have sent this game into overtime instead of handing them the L. Seattle has lost back-to- back home games and will travel to Santa Clara to face the 1-9 San Francisco 49ers for the second time this season.

Seattle Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers are coming off a bye week and the week before that, they finally nabbed their first win of the season. San Fran will be well rested and ready for a rematch.

C.J. Beathard was at the helm in week 10 and led the 49ers to their first victory of the season. However, reports say the newly acquired Jimmy Garoppolo has been cramming the last three weeks to learn Kyle Shanahan’s offense and if he continues to impress in practice this week, he just may win over the starting position. Either way, both quarterbacks are an improvement from Brian Hoyer.

As if Seattle’s injury list wasn’t long enough before Monday Night Football…Shaq Griffin suffered a concussion on the second play of the game, Oday Aboushi suffered a shoulder injury and Mike Davis, newly activated off the practice squad, suffered a groin strain. Davis showed promise and seemed to light a fire in the run game…that is until he too was bit by that injury bug. We just can’t seem to catch a break.

Last time these teams met, Russell Wilson was sacked three times…he added another three sacks on Monday Night, bringing his total to 26 so far this season. 24% of Russell Wilson’s passes are outside of the pocket, that’s the most in the NFL. This offensive line is very, very bad.

Carlos Hyde has rushed for nearly 600 yards so far this season, nabbing 98 of those in their victory over the Giants and 124 in week three, the last time these two teams faced each other.

A bright spot for the Seahawks is Tyler Lockett, who was seemingly absent until this point. He tallied 197 kickoff return yards on five attempts and put the Seahawks in great field position that ultimately kept them in the game.

Despite being incredibly banged up, the Seahawks should still have no problem securing a much needed bounce back victory over the 49ers. After Monday night’s loss the Hawks chances to make the postseason for the sixth straight season dropped to 58%…so like I said, a victory over the niners is absolutely vital to keep the playoff hopes alive! Sorry 49ers Fangirl!

Go Hawks!
